Getting there from College Green: Hop on the MRT at the Botanic Gardens Station (Circle Line CC19) towards HarbourFront.  Alight and change at Buona Vista Station (Circle Line CC22) to the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris or Changi Airport. Alight at Tanjong Pagar Station (EW15). Walk 200 metres up Maxwell Road, past the URA Centre and Maxwell Food Centre and turn right on South Bridge Road. Chinatown is the district just across the road.

Alternatively, hop on the MRT at the Botanic Gardens Station (Circle Line CC19) towards HarbourFront.  Alight and change at Buona Vista Station (Circle Line CC22) to the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris or Changi Airport. Alight at Outram Park Station (EW16) and walk up Eu Tong Sen Street.

Remarks: Full of Chinese knick-knacks, food centres and eateries, Chinatown is sprawling, bustling and often confusing but great fun nonetheless. People’s Park Food Centre and the Chinatown Complex is crowded with excellent hawker stalls and the shopping streets of Smith, Temple, Pagoda and Mosque streets all feature eateries, shops and historical places of worship which are testament to the unique multiculturality of the city.

A walking tour of Chinatown can be taken in with a visit to the URA City Gallery and the Ann Siang Hill/Club Street district.

During Chinese New Year (typically late January to February), the entire stretch of Chinatown is lit up with festive lighting and is very entertaining to visit at night.
