MUSTAFA CENTRE

Getting there from College Green: Hop on bus number 66 or 67. Alight at Serangoon Road at the Broadway Hotel (Bus stop number B07111). Cross Serangoon Road at the traffic light and walk down the road (with the traffic flow) until you see Syed Alwi Road. Enter Syed Alwi Road. Mustafa Centre is the enormous and unmistakable building on your left.

Alternatively: Take the MRT Circle Line towards Marina Bay or Dhoby Ghaut. Alight at Serangoon MRT Station (CC13) and switch to the North-East Line towards Harbourfront. Alight at Farrer Park Station (NE8). Take Exit I and walk up Serangoon Road (against the flow of traffic) until Syed Alwi Road.

Remarks: Some say that “if it cannot be found in Mustafa, it does not exist in Singapore”. Mustafa is an enormous, sprawling, cramped mega-emporium stocking everything from Indian spices and dry goods, to electronic goods, to cheap generic sports shoes, to jewellery, to Singapore Souvenirs, to luggage, right back to fresh foods. Shopping in Mustafa is sometimes frustrating, but always entertaining.

Best of all, Mustafa is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It can be very crowded on weekends though.

Although Mustafa is great for food, electronics (cheap kettles and blenders), luggage, toiletries and Singapore souvenirs, we would not recommend it for kitchenware, cutlery and bed linen. IKEA Alexandra is the better (and often cheaper) option for the latter items, so take note.
